Ann Toney

Ann’s career began in North Carolina, having received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of South Florida and her JD from the North Carolina Central University School of Law. She quickly rose in ranks from practicing Real Property Law to becoming President of the Public Defender’s Association, as well as gaining valuable experience prosecuting felonies.

Since 1984, Ann Toney’s legal experience ranges from President of the Public Defender’s Association in North Carolina to Deputy District Attorney in the 7th, 9th, and 18th Judicial Districts in Colorado. With over 30 years of proven expertise, Ann has the knowledge and capability to provide the best possible defense for those charged with a DUI. At the core, Ann understands that persistence, meticulous attention to detail, and compassion are the keys to successful representation.

Ann Toney opened her law practice to defend people charged with DUI. Ann has been practicing law for over 30 years, and in that time, she has learned a lot. During her first years as an attorney, Ann learned to keep fighting in each case. Ann learned, practicing criminal law, to knock on every door, open every window, and collect any pieces of evidence, as you never know what will make the difference for your client. The one thing you should know, DUI cases can be won. DUI defendants do have hope. It takes work pay, ing attention, and persistence to fully investigate a Client’s case. After being in private practice, Ann joined the Public Defender’s Office to defend people and eventually was elected President of the Public Defender’s Association in North Carolina. She currently practices as a DUI attorney in Denver.

After moving to Colorado in 1998, since Ann had been prosecuted in Fayetteville, North Carolina, when she moved to Colorado, she joined the District Attorney’s Office in the 7th Judicial District. Ann went on to prosecute in the 18th Judicial District and also in the 9th Judicial District, totaling eleven (11) years as a prosecutor. What Ann learned there was that not all attorneys come to court prepared and ready to defend their clients. Ann also learned not all law enforcement officers tell the truth and are honest. While Ann has friends in law enforcement from when she prosecuted, when she saw dishonesty with a law enforcement officer, she always addressed it. During these years, Ann conducted many DUI jury trials and other criminal trials as well. While Ann prosecuted homicides, first-degree assaults, sex offenses, and many other serious crimes, none individually affected so many people as the DUI charge. Most people walking down the street are not sex offenders or murderers. Most people, though walking down the street, don’t think twice about having a beer while watching the game or a beer with dinner. Part of what makes Ann Toney the best DUI lawyer in Denver is that she understands that a DUI can happen to normal people.

In 2009, Ann left the district attorney’s office and went back into private practice as a DUI attorney in Denver to defend people. Since opening her practice in 2009, Ann has helped hundreds of people fight their DUI, DWAI, and DUID charges. The outcomes range from total dismissal of charges, pleas to Careless Driving, pleas to Reckless Driving, DWAI, and DUI. What people may not realize is that the sentencing can vary for each charge, and often, what a Client really wants is to get the “best deal” and feel like they were treated fairly by the government.

This is probably the only time in your life you will have to fight a DUI. Now is the time to hire the best DUI lawyer in Denver who has the skill set, knowledge, and backbone to fight for the very best outcome for you. Don’t look back later with regret. Ann Toney can help you defend your rights.
